December 23, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Just wanted to let everyone know that Robbie is doing fine. He was one of several appendectamies (?) that were preformed yesterday, so the docs had it down pat.
Now he's mostly tired out - both from the surgery and not sleeping the night before. I think he's looking forward to a holiday of movie watching and Nintendo playing.
Isa will still be down on Christmas to celebrate with you all. I hope all of you feel free to step in and keep her in line a little! She enjoyed the night with Alex and Carolyn - who were in town - shopping and ice skating. Sounds like she'll be a pro in no time.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and calls. Love ya tons!

A quick little request for good thoughts and prayers to Portland. Robbie just headed into surgery to have his apendix removed. Anymore this kind of stuff is pretty routine, but I've never found extra prayers to hurt!

Well, I'm back! Hong Kong was beautiful and warm

December 11, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Well, I'm back! Hong Kong was beautiful and warm. It was so nice to be home that I promptly slept most of Saturday. I managed to pull myself together enough to go to Zoo Lights with the family. It's always fun, beautiful, and cold!
As some of you know, the house we were trying to buy fell through. There were some potential problems with the stucco siding, and we just weren't up to the risk. So, we spent yesterday looking at a dozen new houses. Arggg...
Our schedule is busy over the holidays, and we'll probably only be in Eugene on Christmas day. I can't wait to see you all!

December 08, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

I'm working away here - slowly finishing up. My job occasionally makes me curse the American bargin hunters who make me bicker over 3 cents and decrease other people quality of living simply to prevent FM from becoming Wal-Mart!
Anyway, I fly out tomorrow (Sat) morning and will get home Sat morning - funny how that works! I then plan on spending a day in my PJ's watching cartoons with my family! Love to all.

Hello from Hong Kong! While I've had a few "vacation" moments, we've been working pretty hard. I miss you all though, and really wish everyone could be here and see some of the amazing sights! This is an amazing city that puts the word "modern" to shame! Have to run back to work - love to all!

November 28, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

I've been enjoying to occasional snow flurry outside my work window today. There really isn't enough to cause much of a stir, but I know people will be driving stupidly on the freeway tonight!
We had such a good time with everyone in Eugene this weekend! It was really nice to sit and talk to everyone, and catch up with all of the kids too. I head out Thursday morning - and I encourage all of you to drop Robbie a line and make sure he and Isa are remembering to eat and change their underwear. Also, that they haven't been sucked into the Nintendo system!

November 15, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

We had a wonderful time in Eugene over the weekend. Thanks to everyone for making it so special!
I sadly caught a touch of Robbie and Isa's cold, so I headed home early on Monday and slept most of it off.
Our lives feel chaotic and unorganized these days between trip planning, house hunting, colds, and all the usual day-to-day activities. I'm really hoping that by year end we will be a bit more settled.

November 09, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

We've all been quiet as the elections have come and gone. This is probably because of the strict warnings about language from Adam during the 2004 elections. Anyway, a little yeah! from this camp. It's nice to be on the winning side sometimes, and to know that not all of the liberals of the world have sunk into their armchairs of complacency.
We can't wait to see you all this weekend!

November 05, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Well, I'm not "having a baby" like Sadie, but I do have some news. I was offered a really great job with Fred Meyer's last Thursday. Starting November 20th I'll be the Product Merchandiser of childrens clothing. Because of this I'll be heading of the China and Hong Kong on November 29th for 9 days. It's a bit overwelling yet exciting!
We are also looking at houses to buy. Right now we're struggeling between two different places. Look forward to more news in the near future!

November 01, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Congratulations to Josh and Jody! Happy belated birthday to Betsy, and a Happy day-after-Halloween to all!
We hosted a block party last night. It was a great way for the kids to run off some of the sugar high, and for the adults to warm themselves by the fire (we had two outdoor blazes going). As it was the coldest night of the year so far many trick-or-treaters also stopped along the way to warm up!
Life is busy here. We've been looking at a house in the St. John's area, so our futures may actually include a real guest room for visitors :) Adam, let us know when you're going to be up here. We'd love to see you and the kids!

I'm getting ready to head home for the night

October 19, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

I'm getting ready to head home for the night. We've been getting our Fall '07 collections finished up, so I'm swamped with last minute changes.
Today Isa had her school pictures. Hopefully I can post a cute shot soon.
Robbie has been planning a Halloween block party. We don't live in the best trick-or-treat neighborhood, so we want this to make it up to the kids.
The office should settle down mid-November. Maybe we can come see everyone then. Hogs and quiches.

Today is our 9th anniversary

October 11, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Today is our 9th anniversary. Robbie and I going away to Hood River this weekend while Isa heads down to Eugene with Mom. I think we're both looking forward to getting away. If only to sit in front of a fire and read books for a weekend.
Isa continues to excell at school, frequently amazing us with new knowledge. Robbie is working to organize a Halloween block party with several neighbors, and I'm swamped at work. I hope that we'll all be able to make it down some time soon to see everyone!

September 29, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Last night was Isa's Back to School BBQ and open house. The weather was amazing and it reminded me of all those Roosevelt picnics (just add three or four more languages and a dozen or more ethnicities)! It was also nice to meet some of her friends that I hear so much about. Her teacher is wonderful and Isa just loves her.
Robbie and I have learned how to enjoy our evenings together again. This of course is coupled with the onset of prime time, and we've been weeding through which new shows to follow or not. So far we're giving Jericho(sp?) two thumbs up.
Love to all.

September 25, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

We had a full and exciting weekend! Sat morning Isa had a birthday party at the Build-A-Bear workshop, allowing Robbie and I to wander and take care of some shopping. In the afternoon we organized and cleaned. I sorted through endless projects and school assignments and sent out numerous bags of recycling!
Sunday morning while Isa and Robbie went to church, I hiked the 8 mile annual Wildwood Run/Walk with Raven. We finished in about 2 1/2 hours and quickly crashed with sore muscles.
I lay on the floor with Isa watching Mary Poppins before recovering enough to hit the Polish Festival. Robbie had a Hurling match and met us there later. After a few hours of perogies, sausage, and polka we headed home for a movie and bed.
After all that a week of work will feel quiet!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMIE!!! It's so nice to hear that you are able to take a little time for yourself these days - keep it up :)
Well, avast maties - I think that's the extent of my talk like a pirate day! It was great to see everyone at graduation, and with that step done the postings about me will probably get quieter.
Robbie's classes seem to be settling down, and Isa now looks at school as routine. We're gearing up for the holidays, and Robbie and I are getting excited to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays, which we haven't been able to for the last few years. Good times ahead!

Vodoo dolls??? That may explain a lot!
For those coming up tomorrow, I'll be at the school early, and Robbie is off work at 1:30 pm. He was planning to go down to the portfolio show until 2:30 and then go pick up Isa at school before coming back downtown to the grad ceremony at 4:00. I thought it might be nice for us all to go out to dinner afterwards - so long as everyone agrees NOT to argue over the bill.
I can't wait to see you all. Call if you have any questions.

September 11, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

It's hard to believe it's been five years since the 9/11 attacks. It is one more reminder of how happy I am that Adam has created this site to keep us all connected.
Robbie and I delivered Isa to her first day of Kindergarden. As soon as she found her desk she was ready for us to go. Sigh... long go are the days where she cries when we leave.
Robbie packed up Scabbers the rat for another year at Hillside. While he's happy that he appears to have another great group of kids, he has decided that this will probably be his last year teaching.
I'm getting ready for graduation - writing my speach and finishing my portfolio - oh, and still working away at my job.

September 08, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Hello all from PDX! Robbie continues to prep for the new school year, and I feel more and more like I'm working a real job again. Isa will be starting school on Monday, and our life moves ever forward!
We will be down on Sat. morning to march in the parade with Mom and some folks she knows. It is mostly exciting because we get to dress up.
I'm busy working away on my portfolio and graduation speech. Only one last presentation tonight and I'm almost done. Yeah!
A few of you have been in touch about coming to graduation. If anyone's interested please let me know.
The day after graduation the three of us will be heading to the beach for the SOLV annual beach clean up. We figured it would be a good idea to teach Isa by example - hmmm I hope the weather holds for this lesson.

August 29, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Well, I was going to let everyone know that my graduation is on September 15. The student portfolio show is at 1pm (for family & friends) and the ceramony is at 4pm at the Tiffany Building (walking distance from the school).
Why I say "I was..." is that now I'm not sure I want any one to go! I just accepted the schools offer to speak at the ceramony, and I'm already shaking at the thought. So, if any of you decide to come up let me know, and promise to sit in the back row!

August 25, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Whew! I managed my internship presentation (for roughly 250 people) this morning without any major mishaps! We've spent the last three days practicing, and It will be nice to spend next week just doing my work.
Robbie and Isa headed down to Eugene this morning, so it's just me for the next two nights. Long gone are the days where that might sound like an excuse to play - now I like the idea of sleeping in and cleaning house!

August 22, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Monday is over! I've been feeling a bit tired today after a packed weekend. Friday night was filled with back-to-back family frun from 5 - 11:00 p.m., and on Saturday I bought a car! It's a little 2004 Kia Rio with low miles and amazing milage - the perfect commuter car.
Mom and Bob were up in the afternoon for a wedding, and dropped of some shelves from her office. We've now started to reorganize!
On Sunday we packed a picnic after church and headed for a back roads drive west of Portland. We ended up eating uder a canopy of oak trees at a small hidden winery. On our way home we found our dream home for sale. It's only about $700,000 out of our price range, but actually quite a steel for a huge historical house on 16 acres. Sigh...

August 18, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

We have an exciting day today! I'm leaving work early to go to a class, and then Robbie and Isa are meeting me so we can go to a Portland Timber's soccar game at PGE Park. I scored tickets in the company box for us. Ahh the joys of corporate life - next step, a trip on the company jet!
After the game we're heading over to the church to watch The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on the lawn. We'll probably be pretty tuckered out when we get home, but it's nice to have evenings with the family again.

August 14, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Monday already! We had a great time on Friday/Saturday walking in the Relay for Life. I think I tallied up about 10 hours of walking, and Robbie and Isa joined me for quite a few of them! If any one would still like to send a donation, you can write a check to the American Cancer Society and mail it to me before August 31.
We went to the farms on Sunday afternoon to pick up fresh veggies and explore a bit. In the evening Isa played with a gaggle of kids while Robbie and I chatted with neighbors.
The summer is starting to wind down, and I'm starting to finish up school and work projects. I think we're all looking forward to the fall.

Good Morning all! I am quite happy now that my family has returned to me safe and sound.
I sent several of you e-mails regarding the Relay for Life event that I am participating in. For those of you I didn't have e-mails for the link is: www.acsevents.org/fredmeyer. Our team is a bit late to event, and we are doing our best to raise funds for the ACS before the relay on August 11. Anything you can contribute would help this amazing organization in so many ways!

July 29, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Well, I am about to head home for the day, and thought I'd post a quick note.
Robbie, Isa, and Hanni made it to UT just fine. They are enjoying fine weather and beautiful mountains.
It was a busy week at work. I got to attend a Management Committee meeting, which are normally closed door, and attend a Beaver's baseball game with my fellow interns (catered in the co. suite). But before you think that design and development is all fun and games... I also had to deal with shipping ports destroyed by war and incorrectly sized products. My supervisor is off to NY market next week, so a few of use are holding down the fort. I have a funny feeling it will be more work then fun and games.

I'm back from camp and had a really great time

July 24, 2006 by Robbie in Cortez

I'm back from camp and had a really great time. I haven't been a camp counselor for over four years, and I forgot how much fun it is to be with the older kids. The camp was at Suttle Lake near Sisters. A very beautiful camp where we saw deer, and chipmunks running around the grounds. Any stress that I had was immediately gone, and I really enjoyed the peacefullness of the mountains. Some might not say it's a vacation when you have over thirty kids to watch over (seven counselors and two deans), but it was a vacation for me. We canoed, slept under the stars, swam in the lake, and went to another lake nearby and swam and threw sponge balls at the kids. We had campfire every night, sang songs, made crafts, and kept busy. All in all, the kids and counselors were happy. In the end, I hope the kids learned something about God, or became a little more spiritual, and also to respect nature.

On Wednesday, Mom, Isabell and I are off to Utah to go to a wedding of some old friends of ours. We supplied Isabell with enough games, art, and dvds to hopefully make the trip a little more comfortable. If not, please look in the obituaries when I run the car off the road, after hearing Isabell constantly repeating, "Are we there yet!" Just joking!

I'm on a roll now, two posting in one week

July 09, 2006 by Robbie in Cortez

I'm on a roll now, two posting in one week. We have had a good weekend so far. Yesterday we went to Enchanted Forest, and had a blast. Isabell loved the Story land village, the Western town, and the English village. She went on the Ice Mountain roller coaster twice with mom, you won't catch me on that thing. We all went on the Water log ride. Seraph got pretty wet, I made sure I sat in back. She liked it so much that she wants to make sure she will sleep through the night and do some small chores around the house, so she can go next month.

Sunday we went early to Kells and watched Italy vs France. All in our small group were voting for France, except for Seraph, and occasionally Isabell. Even though France lost, I was still happy over the outcome. After the game we all went home and went swimming at Peninsula Park, and fun watching Isabell swim. We are now going make fish and chips and relax.

July 07, 2006 by Robbie in Cortez

I've decided it was time for me to post, since it's been a long time. We had a nice fourth of July hanging out with our family and neighbors. The most amazing thing that has happened, is that Isabell is riding her bicycle without training wheels. On Monday, we started out, but I had to hold on to the bike. On Tuesday I was just holding on, and off she went. We were blown away by this, she was going around corners and balancing pretty well. Then on Wednesday she learned to start by herself and off she went. She rode her bike to the MAX on Thursday. Pretty amazing!

She's taking her first swim lessons this summer and is doing pretty well. She just learned how to dunk her head, and is pretty good at her back floats, but still is learning to do her front floats and kicking without using all of her legs.

Today we went to Pioneer Square to see the longest hot dog in the world (104 feet long). Isabell just couldn't stop talking about it. They were giving away free hot dog lunches, and free balloon animals.

This weekend we are off to Enchanted Forest. Isabell earned enough points, for sleeping in her own bed, to go there. Should be fun.

Quick note before I head out to work

July 03, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Quick note before I head out to work.
We had a lovely weekend. Sat. was filled with kids playing at our house - a lot of water games, and an evening birthday party up at the rose gardens.
After church on Sun. Robbie and I went to a hurling practice/game while Isa played across the street. Robbie was invited to join in and ended up with a pretty nasty cut to one eyebrow. While it didn't phase him much, and we joked about the dashing Indiana Jones scar he'd have, I did promplty take him home and put him to bed.
We're looking forward to a mellow 4th. Many of our neighbors will be around, and I think there will be fireworks and water ballons for all!

June 28, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

I've been able to add the coffee shop, mail room, and print services to my repertoire at work! My supervisor returned from vacation yesterday, and the pace has picked up considerably. It's nice to put my education to use, as well as to work on projects that I'll actually get to see in stores. Our intern group has also formed a relay team for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. It runs over night July 11-12 at Sellwood Park in SE Portland. If anyone is interested in coming up they have lots of family friendly activities going on, and it's money for a great cause. I'll probably be sending out an e-mail to everyone trying to guilt you out of donations (so be warned)!
Isa has such a great time at swim lessons last week, that Robbie signed her up again. She does really well, except she's still hesitant about putting her head under water. It's been so hot lately that she and Robbie have spent great portions of the last two days sitting in the wading pool and running in the sprinklers!
Sadie--let me know your schedule for your trip. I can arrange to pick you up from the airport, and get you where ever you need to go (or if you want to stay a bit...:)). Also everyone we should chat about a birthday party for mom.

A quick Cortez family update

June 21, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

A quick Cortez family update.
I finished up my finals and saw many of my friends graduate...sigh. After two grueling days at the Supply Store working on inventory, started my internship. I now understand Adam and all of the Dilbert cartoons, as I have entered the endless maze of cubes. I can get to my box (complete with my own partially working computer, and phone mail), but so far my lackluster directional skills have only gotten me as ar as the bathroom! We're set up a bit like Ft. Knox and I'm sure the amount of wandering and card swipping I'm doing is sending out red flags!
Robbie and Isa have been enjoying there summer so far. They've gone down to Kells twice to watch World Cup Soccar, and Isa has been taking swim lessons in the afternoon. I think it will take them a bit to get used to their new found freedom.

Mom and I are back at Meg and Dick's

May 29, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Mom and I are back at Meg and Dick's. We had a nice time in Normalville, catching up with old family and friends, who all pass on their love to the Ory-gun clan. Grandpa's memorial was lovely, and the church folks took grand care of us. After we went down to the house and Betsy fed us all, and everyone swaped old sailing stories.
I spent the night down at the house (which still feels and smells the same as it always has) and woke up at the crack of dawn to singing birds and far off roosters. It was beautiful, and made me feel quite nostalgic.
I spoke to Isa and Robbie, who had a lot of fun at Emma's birthday party, and soaking up Oregon rain! I'll probably try to send them back down again next weekend, as I get overwhelmed by final projects. At least the quarters almost over!
Anyway, Mom and I head home tomorrow morning and it's back to the daily grind. Love to all!

May 20, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

I'm about to head off for class, and thought I'd make a quick post. Robbie, Isa, and Hanni headed off to Silverton this morning to go to the annual pet parade and farmers market. It actually looks like the rain will clear for them. This afternoon we have a birthday party for one of Isa's classmates. Then Robbie and I are taking the advantage of having a grandmother here and going to see The DeVinci Code. Ebert gave it a decent review, so I have high hopes.
Mom and Bob were up yesterday, and joined Hanni in going out to dinner with us. We found a little Italian resteraunt in the Mississippi district where Isa actually enjoyed food that wasn't fried or processed! It's a keeper.
I left the house early this morning to spend four hours at Starbucks working on homework and nursing a latte. This is the second weekend I've done this, and the coffee shop folks are quite nice about it. If only they had cushions on their chairs...
This will be a rather short week for me, as Mom and I leave early Friday for PA. I got a converter for the laptop, so I will be able to do school work on the plane and in the car. Hanni asked me this morning (it was from a news program survey), what would be harder to give up the computer or the coffee. I think I've decided that I could give up the computer if it were not required for school/work, as I could easily get back in the habit of writing letters (remember when we used to do that sort of thing?) I could only give up the coffee if I had two weeks off to go through a 12-step recovery program. When will they invent the caffine patch? That would be better the hard drugs. But then again, us students would look rather funny with patches covering our bodies!
Alright, enough endless babble. Love to all.

Happy Mother's Day to all the women out there - technical mother's or not, who have led, shaped, or mentored others in their lives!
We are off to church in a few minutes. They have decided to celebrate Mother's Day by way of it's original meaning, ie a day of peace. Gotta love those Presbyterians.
This afternoon I'm modeling for a friends bridal photo shoot. It's been a long time since I've been a blushing bride!

May 05, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Thought I'd let everyone know that I got the internship at Fred Meyer! It was apparently a rather nail bitting decision, as they had a strong list on candidates. The only difficult part may be that they are wanting me to start in the next few weeks. Not sure yet how I'll pull it off yet, but I will. Love to all.

May 04, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

I picked up Mom at the airport this afternoon, and after a picnic lunch, we sent her on her way home. Right now Robbie, Isa, and the neighbor kids are playing tag outside while we wait for Hanni to arrive. She is watching Isa tomorrow, as the friend she usually stays with on Tuesday and Thursdays is out of town.
I'm working away at school, thank goodness there are only a few weeks left!

April 17, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

The initial gluttony of easter has passed, and I m hoping that Isa and Robbie will emerge from their chocolate and jelly bean induced comas soon.
What I'm really looking forward to is Russian Easter next weekend. As we went from rain to hail to sun several times yesterday, I decided that god was trying to tell us that the real easter fallows the old calendar!
Congrats Adam on the game contest win. Your name is quietly wispered among my fellow students.

Adam: I suggest you get the kids playing Risk, now that Emma can manage colonies.
I just returned from Isa's school, where she was star of the week and wanted to bring me in for her show and tell. It was fun to see all of her classmates, most of whom I haven't seen since her birthday in January. Scabbers, our pet/classroom rat, even made an appearance, much to the kids' delight.
Robbie and Isa are going back down to Eugene this weekend for the library book sale. It's the one day a year that I can guarantee Robbie will be up at 5:00 a.m.! I will be spending my weekend doing technical flats on the computer and putting together a portfolio for my product development internship interview!
Love to all.
(Mom, get in touch with me about Russian Easter)

March 02, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Today was bound to be good day because as soon as I walked into the school, Marsha, the woman who works the front desk, asked if I drank coffee (silly question, really!). It seems her nephew brought her a large mocha, but she didn't have the heart to tell him that she didn't drink coffee, and she offered it to me. So know, half a mocha later, I've been very productive, wizzing through my e-mails and slicing a considerable path through my school work.
School has been going well, although I remain horribly busy. I went to a workshop on leadership last weekend, and was instructed to be more assertive. Sigh... I'm not quite sure how I'll give up the passive gene that runs so deep in our family, but as burn-out is a second only to depression in passive personalities, I fugure it's worth a shot!
My thoughts continue to be with Grandpa. Isa and I were looking through our photos from Belize, as well as some pictures from my summers as a little girl in Normalville. She has been working on a collection of drawings to send back, and perhaps they can add a little light to the day.
Hugs to all.

February 15, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

I'm starting to feel the crushing overwellmingness that begins about this time of the quarter. It has been compounded by the difficulty of the classes I'm taking, as well as a number of other issues.
We've had a problem come up with the city regarding our house in Eugene. After months of contemplation we're thinking about selling. Even though Isa may find this unforgivable, the hassel of owning it is mounting, and if we move back to Eugene we've talked about being closer to downtown.
Sigh... I'm not sure why I can't make the rest of life pause while I finish school.

February 07, 2006 by Seraph in Cortez

Isa seems to be coming down with a cold, and is sounding like there is a large toad stuck in her throut. I'm not quite sure how this always happens when I'm entering midterms or finals, but so it goes.
As for school, I told Mom that I am either managing to keep up, or I've simply forgotten most of the things I need to do. This has left me decididly with a looming sense of dread as I begin to realize the large amount of things to do in a very small amount of time. Is it blasphamis to praise Starbucks daily, and worship my coffee pot?
Robbie has been leaning more towards taking the summer off, especially if I'm working full time. I think the year has been a bit wearing on him, and he is now being pitted against the mother from hell at school.
While we have all of this going on in our own lives, it is really hard for us not to be thinking about Grandpa right now. I keep trying to think of some way to make it back east, but haven't learned to bend time just yet. When you head back again Mom, remember to take all of our love with you.

Happy Birthday Isabell! Wow, how did we get to 5 years old alread? We had a nice birthday dinner last night with Mom and Bob at Kells Irish Pub (Isa's favorite) last night, and Isa was quite happy to hear from the waiter that having Kells as a favorite made her very "cosmopolitan."
Today we are having a party with Isa's friends from school, after which we have to run home to watch the Seahawks playoff game. Ahhh...priorities.

Writing from school this morning, Isa and Robbie dropped me off on their way up the hill. It's only the second week of classes, and I'm already sleep deprived, which might just require a side trip to Starbucks here shortly (to study of course).
Isa is having a birthday party with the kids from her class this weekend. Thank goodness we're renting out a room at the community center, as the idea of 16 children and their parents stuffed into our place seems a bit of an overload.
Robbie and I have found that the most effective way to deal with the winter blues is to simply rearrange our furniture. I blame this part of my genetic code on Yayoe. On Monday, even with the homework piled high, we undertook a major reorganization of the living room. While the new setup is nice, it has left my office in terrible disaray, and there is little time for me to take care of it. For now I work at night among stacks of various documents, fearing to push anything to far out of sight for it just might be that vital tax form or million dollar check!

The rain here has finally beaten us down, and we've decided to escape over the weekend. After scanning the weather reports for the next few days, and realizing that we'd have to drive more then 9 hours to find sun (not even warm - just no rain), we decided to venture towards Bend where there was a not so spendy hotel with an indoor heated pool! We head out tomorrow morning, carefully scheduled so we safely get there before the Seattle Seahawks game starts, and will only be gone for the night. Funny how something like a heated pool seams like the lap of luxury!

Well, we're back home after the holidays, and the cat is still alive and the house didn't burn down. I was wonderful to see everyone and to spend time with Sadie.
Robbie and Isa have started back at school, with Robbie resolved to maintain a positive perspective on the rest of the year. We rearranged Isa's bedroom, and she's been happily playing away with her new loot. I'm back at school for work and new student orientation this week, and classes start Monday.
Mostly this year we're trying to stay happy and healthy. We've accepted that things will be really hectic and my only goal is to maintain sanity and then find a job. Robbie's hoping to cook healthy and organic foods even on the nights I'm not home! We try to keep our resolutions simple. Love and happiness in the new year to all.....
