Well, a member of our family left us today
April 30, 2001 by Adam in Family
Well, a member of our family left us today. We handed our dog Guy over to a new owner. Gene's as close to perfect as you can get, and I'm sure Guy will be very happy. Sam fills the quiet in the house quite well.
We had seven members of Jamie's family for breakfast this morning. I felt like I was cooking for an army, though it seemed to go over well. Tomorrow Jamie is teaching at Sam's preschool, as well as Wednesday. Wish her luck.

April 29, 2001 by Adam in Family
Jamie's family descended on Eugene yesterday, with Ray, Darrel, and Josh coming staying at the boy's house. We headed over to visit them. Also, Wendy is back permanently from her Washington school, so we visited with her too.
Jamie and I spent some more time looking at houses. We haven't found the perfect house yet, though we found a great one, except for the location. Beautiful older house, just a bit too close to the freeway.
We also have someone interested in taking Guy away. Although it will make our house much simpler, we will miss him. The new owner lives on four acres of land, is newly divorced, and misses his two shelties that went to his wife. Sounds like it will be a good place for our puppy.

Fairly uneventful week so far
April 27, 2001 by Adam in Family
Fairly uneventful week so far. Jamie and I went out for dinner last night, while my mom and Dick watched Sam. We also are starting looking for a new house. Jamie went out house hunting with Victoria, one of our realtors. No luck so far, but we're not in a rush. Sam's getting more and more imaginative these days. Playing pretend is one of his favorite games these days.

The nerd gene is strong in Sam
April 22, 2001 by Adam in Family
The nerd gene is strong in Sam. We got several adventure games for kids, and we've been playing them into the ground. He just finished up Pajama Sam's "No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside", which was a big hit. He held on to the mouse for all but the hardest parts, though I helped him with some of the trickier puzzles.
Yesterday was beautiful, and we spent a lot of time outside. We broke out the hammock, which Sam's been playing on a bunch. Tonight is wine night, so we'll have Dave, Seraph, Robbie, Angie, and Matthew over for a yummy dinner. Great fun.

We had a good time on Easter
April 16, 2001 by Adam in Family
We had a good time on Easter. Sam had a wonderful morning, finding Easter eggs, eating chocolate, and visiting family. We had a blow-up Easter bunny, which he personally thanked for the various gifts.
We visited Ray, Brant, Dave, and Josh in the morning. Seraph and Robbie put on a wonderful tea around noon time. My dad stopped by and played with Sam in the afternoon, performing surgery together on playdough teletubbies. It's all good.

"This forest sure is creepy
April 14, 2001 by Adam in Family
"This forest sure is creepy."
This is what Sam said when we took a hike in the forest today. I think it's a line from Scooby Doo, which he watches far too often. Sam had a great time tromping about. At the end of the trail, he was ready to head off on another adventure. We decided instead to head back home for lunch.
We've also been getting ready for Easter. We're boiling eggs for decoration and Dave and Josh are visiting later to decorate them. Great fun.

Sam's getting in the Easter spirit these days
April 12, 2001 by Adam in Family
Sam's getting in the Easter spirit these days. Today at preschool he went "egg huntin'" and found some eggs with stickers inside. I'm looking forward to this weekend, especially the egg decorating part. For some reason, that part is even more appealing than stealing the marshmellow chickens from Sam's Easter basket. Mmm . . . sugar coated marshmellows.

April 09, 2001 by Adam in Family
Sam and I went on an adventure to the park in the middle of the hail storm yesterday. It was great fun. Finally, with zillions of frozen balls pelting us, we decided to head to the car, laughing all the way. We picked up some bagels and headed home. Sam and I had to play quietly, as Jamie's book club was discussing various women's novels. Sam, on the other hand, spent his evening being pulled in his wagon, throwing paper airplanes, and playing tag in the backyard.

Sam and I met Jenny, Robbie, and Dez at the library yesterday. We played with puppets and got a book about bugs that Sam laughed all the way through. Yesterday was pretty low key. Josh and Dave came to visit, though mostly Josh played on the computer and Dave enjoyed the many channels on our tv.

Sam and I went to Toys-R-Us today and picked up a little Lego racer. He's pretty excited with it, though he'll occasionally let his mom do it too. It involves smashing something down with his fist and propelling a tiny Lego car across the playroom floor. Even better, the strange Lego driver is carefully designed to shoot out of his seat when it hits the wall. Ah, the joys of being two.

April 04, 2001 by Adam in Family
Lots of news today! Seraph and Isabell came over for dinner last night (Robbie was sick). They're doing well after their exciting trip to Arizona. We have a bunch of baby racoons living under our woodshed. Guybrush continues to bark at them constantly, which is driving us nuts. Jenny found out she is having a baby boy. Evidently Destin was in tears, he wanted a baby girl so badly. Fortunately, his guinea pig had babies, one of which was a girl.

Happy April Fool's day
April 01, 2001 by Adam in Family
Happy April Fool's day. I woke up to have my computer tell me that I was supposed to set my clock an hour forward. Unfortunately, it was for real and an extra hour of sleep magically disappeared.
It's been a quiet weekend. Lots of play time with Sam. We had fun taking his alphabet mat and turning it into tunnels. "Can I play with the letters again?" he asks as I type this. Time to get back to the boy . . .
