Emma's teacher took some pictures and video over the last six months, some of which Emma appears in.

Archery and Pumpkins

October 14, 2013 by Adam in Emma

Fortunately Emma's waking life has been doing much better than her dream life.  This last weekend Emma brought her bow outside for some archery practice.  We also headed to the pumpkin patch and gathered up pumpkins in preparation for Halloween.  The rule was that she could only choose a pumpkin she could pick up.

The creeps

October 10, 2013 by Emma in Emma

Last night the weirdest thing happened. I woke up at 11:03, and I heard my mom talking on the phone. (This was at my mom's house) She was sick and telling her friend to come over. She had the flu and was  "losing her dinner". I got out of my room and called out to her. She later came out and told me every thing was alright and to go to sleep. In the morning, I got up and waited for mom to get up. Wen she did, I asked if she was alright and if she didn't feel sick any more. She asked what I was talking about. She had never been sick, and I imagined every word, not action. So creepy!

Mad Skillz

September 30, 2013 by Adam in Emma

Emma has developed all sorts of useful skills over the years.  She writes Teen Titan fan fiction, draws anime inspired art, and as of this weekend mastered one of the more important and difficult skills of all.

Yes, she made my mocha this morning, steaming the milk, making the espresso, and mixing it all up.  She was nervous, and Joanna supervised, but it turned out delicious and brought a smile to my face all day.

Edgewood Open House

September 27, 2013 by Adam in Emma

Emma took me to her school's open house.  It was cool, seeing where she spends most of her days. I think Sam had Emma's teacher back at Crest, at least occasionally.  She seemed quite nice.

Emma showed me her desk and the owl pellets they were looking at under a microscope.  We went through her various projects that were displayed on the wall.  Emma apparently has a job at morning meeting, and showed me the book she uses to explain tasks to the other kids.

We wandered out to the playground and through the gym.  Eventually we returned home.  It was all quite cool, especially with Emma being so enthusiastic about school.

Emma led her first D&D session with Berry and Duncan. They had a great time.

(Nearly) Ten Years Old

May 19, 2013 by Adam in Emma

Emma had a birthday party with her friends today.  Jade, Kate, and Daniel all arrived this afternoon to hang out, eat good food, and have an adventure.  Joanna outdid herself with a delicious lemon cake and treasure hunt.  A horde of kids ran up and down the stairs, then in circles around the house, only to finally find their treasure.  They had a great time.

Sam and I picked up PF Changs, as requested.  Emma taught Jade how to use chopsticks.  Daniel got picked up just as Mythbusters was winding down.  The girls are now very slowly going to bed, all three sleeping bags next to each other.  Hopefully they actually go to sleep before we do.

I'm really appreciating this age of Emma.  She's sweet and helpful, and quite loveable by everyone around her.  It's cool how she's become an avid reader.  Last night we hung out on the couch as she showed me her favorite Avatar episodes.

Emma Reads

May 10, 2013 by Adam in Emma

Emma has become an avid reader in the last year.  If she wakes up early in the morning, she'll read until it's time to wake up.  When she takes a bath, she'll always bring a book.  I can't count how many times I've read the Adventure Time graphic novels to her before bedtime.

School Photo

April 12, 2013 by Adam in Emma

I finally got around to scanning in Emma's 4th grade school photo.  Some notable friends are Jade, Jamie, and Trinity.  Absent is Kate, who has been Emma's best friend since 1st grade - she's in another class.

Beret

March 17, 2013 by Adam in Emma

Emma went along with Berry and Duncan to Build-a-Bear yesterday.  She seemed a little hesitant, but picked out a bear of her own, paid with her own money, and has been cheerfully carrying it around the last few days.  After getting it, she declared that she was going to stay a kid for a couple more years, which is fine with me.

This morning she and I sewed a beret for her bear.  She's ready for her trip to France this summer.

Emma's a Merry Man

Emma did great in her play last night.  We all went over, met up with mom, Yayoe, Jamie, Sam, Jim, and Judy, and thoroughly enjoyed the play.

I did the same thing four times in a row.  It was settled with a coin toss, making it the first time I've ever won a girl in a game of chance.
