Getting Ready for the NEW YEAR!
Do you know where your old resolutions from years past have gone? Not to worry...they are still hovering around and waiting for you to re-establish them for 2002. As you all know I'm into my frantic, maniacial cleaning frenzy. Throwing stuff away, eating up all the junk food left in the house, cleaning, cleaning, ignoring dirt in hard to reach places, paying bills, finishing up last minute black-mail/extortion letters and writing to old friends. I haven't developed my list of 2002 resolutions but will do so very soon. Each year I keep a "year in review" record of the highlights of the year. If you want any historical information I may have it! So enough for now. Stop reading this and get to work on cleaning your houses both literally and metaphorically.

Hey

December 05, 2001 by Yayoe in Yayoe

Hey...it's December already and our Christmas/New Years party is also just a few weeks away. I'm excited about getting together. Just think about all the great WHITE ELEPHANT stuff that will be exchanged on January 1, 2002! So here's the newz from our household: Lohring is returning to work! He's traveling to Grants Pass and will work a few days each month in a publicly funded medical/dental clinic. A perfect schedule for a guy who still wants to be a dentist! (Hope he remembers to floss on the way to work.)
Hurrah for Lohring!

Meanwhile, his shop is taking shape. I no longer trip on all the stuff that was lying on the floor. His work space looks great..he even has hot/cold running water, a coffee pot, and a semi pin-up girl on his wall. I'm trying to convince him to take the big screen TV into the shop but no luck so far!

In January we plan to visit Dorothy who will be in Florida from January 8 to April 4th. I'm also looking for the perfect part-time job and have a few leads and one interview!.....Imagine me going back to work. Humph...

So that's the news from our household!

HI There, Thanks for all your postings

October 04, 2001 by Yayoe in Yayoe

HI There,
Thanks for all your postings. It's fun reading about your lives. It's October already! Can you feel the chill in the air? I'm ready and have stocked my closet with fur lined slippers and a big fuzzy robe with moons on it. Thanks to Hanni, my shopping partner, I have the best and warmest robe to face winter with limited heat! And NO, I didn't get the robe at Good Will. (I do feel bad about that!) I plan to conserve electricity this year so come prepared with your long johns when you visit. We look forward to seeing you all when Dorothy comes for her visit next week Monday until October 16th.

Lohring and I have been visiting with Bill and Diane. Bill is not doing well and grows weaker as the days pass. He is on Hospice and benefitting from their care. It's a very sad time for him, his family and his many friends. Tonight the Boat Club "Boatheads" will be convening at Bill's house as a farewell meeting and special tribute to him. The boat club pond will be named after Bill! Sniff.

We are off to California November 2 for a Bat Mitsvah in Oakland, California. We plan to take a road trip and spend a few days in the bay area visiting friends/relatives.

Lohring is busy outfitting his shop which is starting to look quite nice. He and Adam have completed "the box" which will house his newest computer when ever it gets put together. So enough for now.

Hi There, Can you believe it's almost September

Hi There,
Can you believe it's almost September. Where did the time go? Lohring is home again and slowly becoming a retired "old guy." He's enjoying his freedom but still cranky about all the loose ends from the business. He's enjoying his new shop and all its ammenities, e.g., hot/cold running water and all kinds of space for more projects and more junk! Sigh. He and Adam are building a wooden box for Adam's next computer. Can you believe he used his 2000 pound milling machine to cut a hole into the wood! Amazing stuff.

Dorothy will be visiting us from October 8-16th. She will be visiting her sister Caroline for 3+ weeks and also going on a cruise with her to Vancover, BC. We will be inviting you to dinner so you can have a chance to visit with Dorothy. I'm still volunteering at the clinic and enjoying it very much. It's a very humbling experience to serve the working poor who are very deserving of health care services. The Alzheimer's Association Walk for Life is happening at the end of September. If you want to walk with me let me know!

Sorry we haven't been posting entries on this...

Sorry we haven't been posting entries on this wonderful website. Lohring will be home on Friday evening after being away in Meadville for the last two weeks. He and Dorothy are scanning old family photos on disks and catching up on old times and visiting friends. Lohring also went to a high school reunion..hard to believe it was 40 years ago! WOW. I've been busy doing research and volunteering at the clinic. I heard that the Arts and Entertainment channel will be doing a story about the free medical clinic I work at sometime in November. I'll keep you posted when it airs on TV. I'll be going "home" to Honolulu at the end of the month. I'm homesick for old Hawaii friends and island sushi. We are eagerly awaiting the Banks' KID! See you at the hospital....

It finallllllly happend!! Lohring is a retire...

June 05, 2001 by Yayoe in Yayoe

It finallllllly happend!! Lohring is a retired, "old guy" effective June 1st but he still has work to do at his old office. He's thrilled at the opportunity to be a man of leisure and adventure. Today he is working with his partner Bill making more boats. They have a back log of 15 orders!

The big retirement party is on Friday, June 15th at 7 p.m. The details have been discussed already. I'm thrilled to have Lohring at home despite my threats to lock the door until 5 p.m. at which time he is allowed to enter the house.
My new goal for his retirement is to get him to remove his shoes in the house and attend Jazzersize 5 times a week.good luck huh.

In anticipation of our "new life" together, we tried to plan a short anniversary trip north. (Can you believe we've been married 14 years and we're still speaking!) To celebrate have to wait over a month in order to find a mutually agreeable time that works for both of us!....Lohring now keeps his calendar in his pocket so he can keep track of all the fun stuff he has to do. If you want to play with him he will have to fit you in!

Life is good, exciting, fun and busy. Contrary to the old images of retired folks...we arent's sitting around watching TV (except for the stock market report) and eating pork rinds. Later...

HI Folks, So much fun to read your entries

April 09, 2001 by Yayoe in Yayoe

HI Folks,
So much fun to read your entries. Good newz about GADzOOK.. "IT" is surrounded by all its mechanical friends (lathes, hammers, etc.)At night I hear the goings on in the garage. They seem to have some sort of weird heavy metal party going on until morning. Lohring's shops is almost done! The electrician has been very busy creating a lighting system that rivals a Hollywood set. We also found an electric furnace so there will be heat during the wild parties

Meadville: We depart for Meadville on May 23-28th. Sadie will be joining us there. Please do think about any stories or words you want us to share at Franklin's memorial service. Aloha/Shalom

Hi There, This is my first official posting!...

April 02, 2001 by Yayoe in Yayoe

Hi There,
This is my first official posting! Hope it goes well. Our new, non flesh and blood family addition is a 2000 pound milling machine called Gadzooks. Can you believe Lohring had to rent a crane to get it into the house! Darren, the crane expert can testify to that wild morning. Lohring's shops is slowly taking shape thanks to master contractor Darren.

I will be showing 4 of my paintings at PRN West at PeaceHealth Medical Group starting Friday, May 4th! Hope you have a chance to see my show, which also include another painter named Laura Effron.
