Yikes

Yikes...we last posted almost 5 months ago. Where has the time gone? Since my last update WE turned 60!Amazing huh! Despite our identical age, I always say that Lohring is 5 years older. It makes his ears itch when I announce that and I get a lot of cruel mileage from it!! To celebrate our new decade we went wild and ordered the Senior Breakfast special at Friendly's restaurant in Northamptom. It felt wicked and refreshing to know that may have saved 89 cents on the bill. We seniors are grateful for every little discount and courtesy that we can garner! So be nice to us and remind us who is giving senior discounts so we can embarass you when we go out together.

We had a wonderful trip east...We first visited Dorothy and saw the beginnings of her new home at Westbury. She hopes to move into her 3 bedroom house in October. We'll fly back then and help her move. She looks wonderful and is keeping very busy working with the contractors and fitting her her busy social life.. She and her sister Caroline are looking forward to their next trip to Ireland on June 25th. Dorothy had a wonderful catered soiree for us while we were visiting. Her old friends (some she has known for over 60 years) were all there. They are such impressive role models for aging. Amara, Jed and Sachi were also there. Sachi is such a neat kid and he is reading! They looked wonderful too.

We then flew into Northampton and spent the weekend with Sadie, Anna, Sue and Searph, and Sadie's other friends and mentors. We attended several concerts and watched Anna play the violin. She's really good! The graduation was ceremony was impressive with Madeline Albright (former secretary of State) giving the Key note speech. It was the usual (yawn) "you go girl" kind of political speech that got heckled by picketers who were not sure she was the right speaker for Smith. Sadie was radiant and so lovely with her cap and gown. Megan made us a delicious pasta dinner and they also helped celebrate my 60th birthday complete with delicious fruit tarts. It was a wonderful weekend and a grand experience. I can see why Sadie was so happy being at Smith (except for the snow days!)

More good newz: Danica, Andy and Ben are coming here for a visit. They will be here about June 25th. So let's try to find a time where they can visit your homes and see all the new grandchildren! More details to follow.

How'z by you? Looks like I last posted in Oct...

How'z by you? Looks like I last posted in October 2002. So much has happened since then like 2003! Lohring will be gone for the entire next week. He works at Grants Pass and leaves for FLorida (another boat race) on the 15th and returns on the 20th. On February 15th he's going to Fremont, California for another race. Shortly after he returns I'll be leaving for Palm Springs from the 19-23rd. Compliments of United Airlines! My free ticket was the result of giving up my seat on the return flight from Florida last fall!I'm hoping to continue my airplaine mercenary job on the way to Palm Springs. Wish me luck. We've done it 4 times in the past several years!

Despite our pronounced slouch toward age 60 (ouch) we are busy, running in circles, having a good time and working. Lohring is thinking about working another day in Grants Pass but I asked him not to do it..We can apply for food stamps and I can work at McDonalds...We'll see what happens. My work referrals are slowly trickling in. I've seen 18 clients already and hope to have more this year. Remember to refer your Peacehealth friends who have parent/elder care questions/concerns to me!The services are free to any Peacehealth employees and their families!

Nothing else new to report. Oh yea, after reading about Jamie's new haircut and color highlight I'm thinking I'd like to be tall, blond and rich. Can you recommend anyone salon where I can go to achieve this goal? P.S. If anyone needs small plastic planter pots I have them! Don't buy them. Come to my basement store and help yourself!
