Hi Everyone

Hi Everyone...
Aloha and good news! Josh and Jody are expecting a baby in late April! Needless to say, I'll be in Honolulu right after the delivery! Jody is starting her 2nd trimester! So I'm a very very happy Jewpanese mother! I won't try to force chicken soup yet...but I'm plotting.....

Sayer's baby, Jackson...is doing great. He now weighs 13 pounds and growing so quickly. I spent the day in Portland yesterday hanging out with him and Sasha, who seems to be a natural, calm and loving mother. Sayer was in Seattle working in his accountant job. Seems hard to believe that he's a CPA type! He's quite amazing! Their dog Oliver is playing second fiddle to the baby but very protective of him! He's been demoted to being a dog but still very much loved by his masters!

Lohring has been spending his weekends preparing for yet another speed trial in California. He and his buddy Mike will be at Legg Lake from November 10-17th...trying to break another world speed record..He's also very busy working on the LCC/River Stone Clinic/HIV Alliance grant! For a retired person he's really very busy but enjoying all his activities. He still finds time to work downstairs in his metal working nerd cave!

I'll be retiring from my consulting job at PeaceHealth and my pro bono job at the Alzheimer's Association at the end of December. It's been a wonderful experience and I've loved the work. Just when I thought I was through working another part-time counseling job appeared on the horizon so I'm preparing to start on November 7th..more about that later.

We're about 1.5 years away from Medicare and looking forward to being an offical old fart cared for by the federal government! Hurrah! I never thought I would want to be 65 but now it's an exciting event on the horizon.Instead of celebrating our birthdays we're gonna have a Medicare party! I want Lohring to buy me a 14 K Medicare card holder that I can wear around my neck to show off! I like the status of being on the government dole!

New family member! Sayer and his lovely wife Sasha have a new baby that was born today at 6:26 PM at Providence Hospital in Portland. Jackson John Jones weighed in at 8'7 oz and is 21 inches long. He has Asian eyes and black hair! On Friday we'll go out and see him! We're so excited!

Loring and his dental team (Riverstone Cinic, LCC and HIV Alliance) got the $2 million 5 year grant. The grant is to establish an AIDS clinic at LCC! He's very busy with meeting and getting the project off to a good start along with his wonderful team. Despite all he has to do, next he's driving..yes driving to Montana for another boat race. I wasn't able to convince him to fly and/or cancel the trip so he's planning to leave on the 21st and will return on the 25th...

Oh...we traded offices! What an amazing fete. Lorhing did most of the work. He loves his new digs...lots of space for all of his stuff..I love my new little cozy room! He looks like Commander Kirk in his office surrounded by his wrap around desk and all his goodies! Be sure to call him Commander!

Happy Monday!Something weird just happend to the last posting I wrote. It disappeared...so I'm starting this all over again. Hope it doesn't reappear along with this one. Thanks to all of you for your love and support during this very hectic weekend. Lohring is home safe and sound and looking well despite continuing pain in his chest and arm. He has some assorted cuts on his arms and legs from crawling through the window of the car but says he almost feels like his old self. Sadie came with me to the airport to welcome him back. As soon as he came into the house he headed for his computer to review what he called "thousands of e-mails." Now he's looking through his bills and also trying to figure out how to get his stuff back from Florida. He plans to see his patients at LCC this week and is also planning to attend another boat race in Montana...SO I guess my plan to tie him up with duct tape and keep him from being his usual way to busy self ain't gonna work...sigh...So thanks again for all the calls and support..very much appreciated. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful and loving family!!

GOOD NEWZ ABOUT LOHRING!Happy beautiful Satur...

GOOD NEWZ ABOUT LOHRING!Happy beautiful Saturday! It's about 2:30 p.m.and I just got off the phone with Lohring, who has made a most amazing and miraculous recovery from his life threatening car crash. He feel much improved and was out at the Florida boat racing pond taking pictures "because it was my job and I needed to do my job." So that tells you that he is feeling better. He still has residual pain in his left shoulder and chest from the seat belt and air bag. He was able to recount more details about the crash as well. He swerved to avoid the truck in front of him and the car immediately rolled over and went back and forth and hit a guard rail. He ended upside down and was disoriented but managed to crawl out of the car. At first he said he didn't realize he was upside down. He was fortunate that no cars hit him from behind. The ambulance was on the scene very soon after the accident. Today he continues to recover and is doing all the paper work, etc. for the insurance company and his credit cards. He'll be home late on Sunday night about 10 p.m. When I commented that he has a guardian angel sitting on his shoulder he responded by saying, "I've always been lucky..." So thanks to that special guarding angel for being there! And thanks to all of you for your call of love and support to him and me. Very much appreciated.
I've contacted Lohring's guardian angel and asked if SHE can accompany me to the casino but she refused!!! Oh well.

Hey

Hey...we're in Shanghai...what an amazing place. I think we in the good old USA have been sold a bad bill of goods about China...it's not what we were lead to believe. This is an unbelievable country that focuses on capitalistic socialism..and yea, the government owns the land but it makes sense...there is so much wealth and prosperity in this country that it would knock your socks off....

And now for the answer to the last quiz: The answer to both questions is CHINA and JAPAN!....Japan is an American style society filled with exceptionally polite people running numerous small to large businesses. However it has an excellent socialized medicine and retirement, system great public transporation and high high prices for everything....China on the other hand has recently surpassed the US in the amount of foreign investment and is using this investment to rebuild the country. As noted though the government as its finger in everything in terms of ownership including our excellent tour company. The people are exceptionally energetic, interesting, beautiful and hard working. The air and water quality is horrific...Lohring has a bad respiratory cough and most of the folks on our group have a bad sore throat, etc. Other that the water and air sucking this is an amazing place. Can you believe this vast country houses 1.3 billion people..a large city holds about 30 million people and a small city has about 3 million...and that's considered small. Sheesh! This does not look like Pearl Bucks' third world country. It looks more like Rodeo Drive in LA and NY city!! So enough for now...we'll be back on Saturday after being gone for 3 weeks. Needless to say we'll be brain dead and jet lagged but happy to be home again. Lohring said he has 600 photos (yawn) and he's eager to force them on you...

April 26, 2006 by Yayoe in Yayoe

hello from Beijing. The Forbidden City is awesome...so much splendor, grandeur and amazing archecture that it's hard to describe. Yesterday we climbed the GREAT WALL..it too was awesome and beyond description. Quick quiz from Lohring:which country is a socialist workers paradise? And which country is a capitalist dream?
A: Japan B: China.
The answer will be posted at the next internet session! We're off to cruise in the Yangze River today...oh by the way...Beijing is really the most polluted city I've seen since LA in the late 1950's!!! We're having a great time and eating delicous cuisine.....

A miracle has occured! Lohring and I are traveling to Japan and China from April 15-May 6th! We bought our tickets yesterday so now were committed! This is an auspicious time to travel because he has the time off from work. He's pretending to be retired for the next 6 months and will resume his job search July 1. We're booked on a 22 day AAA tour that should take us to the major cities in Japan and China plus a 4 day cruise on the Yangtze river and other scenic gorges. Amazing huh. This is truly a miracle! This will also commemorate our 19th year of marriage! So enough for now!
