Working the Tomato Fields

Our weird experiment of letting the tomato seeds that ended up where the chicken coop used to be has finally come to fruition.  The plants are tangled and ungainly and we have far too many tomatoes appearing all at once.  Jo was out picking them this morning to take them to a neighborhood food pantry as we already have tomato sauce and dried tomatoes that will keep us well stocked for the months ahead.  While it was fun, I'll probably stick to more normal gardening techniques in the future.
