Berry's Half Birthday

Berry had her half birthday yesterday.  Joanna made pumpkin pie and got her an artist's hand.  Berry hasn't quite used it for anything artistic yet, unless you count pointing it at everyone and yelling "J'accuse!"



Helping Hands

I'm not quite sure how this came about, but over the weekend Berry and her friend Audrey decided to sell food to raise money for FOOD for Lane County.  Joanna made a bunch of tasty muffins and they did pretty well.  Someone wrote up their activities, which you can read all about.



Bike Riding

Berry decided she wanted to practice riding down at the park today.  She's getting pretty good and can ride without help for short distances.  I think with a few more times she'll be able to generally stay upright and can do longer trips by herself.



Soccer Girl

Berry's been really enjoying soccer.  She decided to do it all on her own (Duncan sadly wasn't able to play on the girl's team).  Joanna has been dutifully taking her out to practice twice a week and the weekend games since school began.


I think she's really enjoying the game itself and it lets her show off a bit of her fierceness in a relatively safe environment.  Her team has been consistently winning, sometimes by quite a bit. Yesterday she brought back the game ball for her exceptional playing.

She came home after a game, ate dinner, and wanted to practice some more.  Sam volunteered, so the two of them went down to the park to kick around the ball, returning at sunset and chatting away.




Berry's Many Birthdays

Berry had a series of birthday events over the last week.  The first was one at home, which involved a wild singing spinning candle device:




Over the weekend we went out to laser tag, which was wild and crazy and full of children:



Berry has been adjusting to her eight year-old self.  She had a few moments over the weekend that involved excessive screaming.  Over the same few days she's been very sweet, helping make breakfast and assisting with chores.  Growing up is hard work sometimes.
