Inscryption

December 13, 2021 by Adam in Adam's Games

I picked up a bunch of games during the last Steam sale and one of them - Inscryption - got to me.  It started as a creepy deck builder with escape room additions, and turned into a 4th wall breaking hard-to-describe thing.  It wasn't always great, but it was usually entertaining and at times they kept throwing new things at the player every couple minutes.

One of my favorite things in the first part is when you died you could make a card and name it.  This was my ultimate card, named after Sam, which made a copy of itself every time it was played.  I won every time I brought it out.

Eternal One

I've been playing Slay the Spire for a couple years now - one of the best deck building games I've ever played.  I spent a long while trying to beat the game at the most difficult level, ascention level 20 where everything is impossibly hard.  I finally did it tonight after an excellent run with plenty of luck along the way.  I guess I'm done playing games forever now as clearly nothing will compare.

Griftlands

I continue to be enamored of deck builder games.  I beat the final difficulty level of Monster Train a couple weeks ago.  I picked up Griftlands, which is a mix of deck building and story, with three different characters to play.  I beat them all on the easiest difficulty just today, though the game is crying out for replays.

I must have a knack for these kind of games.  My first run ended with an untimely death, but I finished the next three to completion.

Cyberpunk 2077 Endings

I finished Cyberpunk 2077, which was high on my list of games I was looking forward to.  It was a good game that didn't quite live up to the hype.  I loved the world and some of the storylines, which felt very much like my vision of cyberpunk in the 80's.  The endings weren't quite as satisfying as I'd like, but they wrapped things up nicely and I can appreciate bittersweet finales.
