Last Things Last
May 18, 2025 by Adam in Adam's Games
It was finally time.
I gathered up all my props, setup my laptop and the game screen with the built in monitor, then placed an empty corkboard bulletin board on the table with all the pushpins and red yarn they'd need. Emma encouraged me to dress the part, so I put on a jacket tie, and found some aviator sunglasses I'd squirred away. Francis had a similar idea, showing up looking like Scully from the X-Files. Emma, her big brother, Francis, Jordan, and my good friend Jason all arrived to get read in and discover the secrets of Delta Green.
The mission was a simple one - an ex-agent had died of natural causes and their job was to clean up any evidence he'd left. They avoided shooting the noisy neighbor and investigated his apartment to discover he owned a cabin in the woods. Right off the bat they found the septic tank half buried in the backyard, opened the lock, and discovered his dead wife, brought back from the grave with dark magic and begging to be let out.
It spiraled from there, with half the party wanting to kill her but decided to search the cabin first. Soon enough they found the dead agent's tape recorder, which of course I had a prop for, and heard his dying wish to pour 20 gallons of gasoline into the septic tank and set it ablaze. All hell broke loose, with the thing that used to be his dead wife jumping out of the tank with unnatural speed and a gunfight and tossing of flaming gas tanks ensued. With some lucky rolls and keen thinking, everyone avoided death, they set the cabin on fire, and headed off into the night before the local police could respond.
I'd planned for a one-shot and see if everyone liked it, but they demanded we keep playing, so it looks like I'll get everyone together for another mission. Already I'm making fake documents, photographs, and more.

I sent this video to the players of my upcoming Delta Green roleplaying game. It's a mix of X-Files and Call of Cthulu and I'm really excited for them to make a murderboard, go insane, and hopefully have a good time.

Finished Avowed
March 26, 2025 by Adam in Adam's Games
I finished Avowed this morning, getting to a generally good ending and saving the day. There was a surprising amount of running and jumping in the game, to the point where Emma and I would shout "parkour!" periodically when we played. The main story was interesting and the writing and voice acting for the big blue guy - Kai - was excellent. He was my ride-or-die by the end of the game and it was satisfying helping him find his own personal peace by the end.

Giant Mini Time
March 02, 2025 by Adam in Adam's Games
It was back-to-back D&D this weekend and I broke out the biggest mini I've ever printed and painted - the Astra Dreadnaught. It was accompanied by a couple Star Anglers with LEDs for the lures. The battle itself went relatively well, with the paladin scoring a couple natural 20s and turning the tide. A couple of their crew members were eaten, unfortunately, though they rescued some stranded sailors from another ship and want to recruit one along with a dog. At least I made the players say a few words for their fallen comrades.

Avowed
February 19, 2025 by Adam in Adam's Games
One of the quirky artifacts I still have from my Neverwinter Nights days is a box signed by a bunch of people from Obsidian who worked on the sequel. The founders worked on the original Fallout and Baldur's Gate, and have generally made good games since then. Pillars of Eternity 2 is one of Emma's favorite RPGs and their latest game, Avowed, is set in the same world.
I started playing last night and I'm impressed. There's a cool, fungal art style to the land and your player has a touch of weird fungal growths, which I suspect ties into the story somehow. I've been itching for a good RPG and excited to dig into this one more.
