I took Robbie and Isabell to Ojo Caliente for a nice dinner and late night soak. I have no idea how we made it home, as every bone was on relax mode! Today we've had a nice little birthday breakfast and presents before I head out to work. Poor Isa has been sick, so she went back to bed after the presents. The holiday weekend is wrapping up...sigh...can we please have 3 weeks of snow days before winter break?

Somehow this has turned into a crazy week! Last Sunday on my way home from work, another epic storm decided to hit our area. I had to drive through very deep water to get home, and consequently my car wouldn't start Monday morning. Monday was spent in a crazy fog (luckily I wasn't scheduled to work). Between the cold/sore throat setting in and working to get a car loan, it was quite a day. On Wednesday, I dragged Hanni around to dealerships and the bank, finally driving home in a 2009 Toyota Yaris (yet to be named). Just when the week was looking up, Thursday afternoon happened. While walking to the bus stop after school, Isabell tripped on a curb and broke her right wrist. Oh, and scrapped her head, which was very small but bled like crazy. I know, you're all thinking, wait! we've read this post before. Yes, this is the second time Isabell has broken a wrist (last time on her left hand), and the second break on her right arm (last time the shoulder). I promise we feed her vitamins and make her drink her milk! Finally the Tylenol kicked in and she's sleeping. Now it's my turn...

Rain?!

We've had crazy Oregon style rain for the last week. Here that means a lot of flooding and water-logged roads. We've been loving in, but my poor garden is drowning. I'm not sure what this means our winter will be like, but we've got the first load of firewood stacked, and contractors bidding on the attic insulation. At least we'll be warm and cozy whatever comes our way.

We're here safe and sound! Sadie and Greg were wonderful hosts and allowed for the perfect re acclamation point. Robbie picked us up in Albuquerque last night and we stayed over before heading back to the house this morning.

We're all packed and ready to go! We're heading out to Santa Fe in an hour or so to catch the first leg of the trip. I'm actually looking forward to the plan ride so that I can unwind and let it all sink in.

Work, work, work

  We finished the new backyard fence today. The (very) old one blew over this winter. On Friday we're putting in another fence in the front. It will include a gate, but that will probably come later in the summer. Isabell and I took a few minutes to plant the squash, pumpkin, and green bean starts before heading in to clean up. She and Robbie are now playing games on the Wii, while I pretend that to stay awake for a few more hours. The summer projects are coming along, but after 9 months of exercising our brains more than our bodies, we're worn out! I need to learn how to convert our camera pics to a lower resolution so I can post them!

Robbie and Isabell headed out early this morning for their adventure in San Diego with Robbie's family. I think I'll putter around some today, cleaning house and running errands. I'm trying to avoid driving too much because of all the Good Friday pilgrims in the valley. Maybe I'll even make it out to a non-animated movie :)

Sorry to add to the sadness

Things have been a little sad down here. A school friend of Isabell's lost his mother, and Robbie and Isabell went to the funeral last weekend. And, today we got news about a friend at work whose husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer today. It feels like it will be a sad spring. Hugs to everyone. We miss and love you all.
